Jen Ratliff has devoted her career to uncovering and sharing the often-overlooked histories that have shaped our communities. While earning a B.A. in Public History from Salem State University, she created exhibits, conducted research, and led digital projects for local institutions such as Salem Maritime National Historic Site, Historic Salem, Inc., and Salem State University.
In 2020, following extensive research and advocacy work to commemorate Salem’s unmarked Almshouse Burial Ground, Ratliff was appointed to the Salem Cemetery Commission. Her efforts were recognized with the Preservation Award from Historic Salem, Inc. in 2021, and in 2022, she was honored with the City of Salem Seal by the City Council.
Ratliff went on to earn an MSLIS in Archives Management from Simmons University. In 2024, she was appointed Town Archivist for Sandwich, Massachusetts, where she continues her commitment to preserving and elevating diverse community histories, ensuring they remain accessible for future generations.
